This monastery was built at the end of the 19th century in a thriving and growing area in the city of Burgos, opposite the old hospital of Barrantes and next to the remains of the medieval walls of the town. The building is a clear example of the neo-Gothic style from the end of the19th century and beginning of the 20th century. Juan Bautista Lázaro designed this church, dedicated to the Visitation.

The church of Salesas was inhabited by this congregation in 1901, and aims to simulate the French Gothic elements that can be seen in Burgos Cathedral. It stands out for its central tower, designed by Juan Moya Idigoras.
