Festivals of San Pedro and San Pablo

The main festivals take place around the 29th of June, the day of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. They are also known as “los sampedros” and the most traditional acts are combined with a variety of traditional events for all ages.

This festivities last for a week and end with the celebration of the “Burgalés ausente”, a Sunday were tributes are paid to the “burgaleses” who live outside the city.

The most traditional events are:

– The proclamation and the announcement of the Queens at the start of the festival
– The flower offering to Santa María
– The parade
– Performance of te anthem of Burgos
– The dances of the “Gigantillos”, “Gigantones” and dancers around the city centre
